Steps to take before selling your home!

So you’re ready to put your home on the market and to you, everything looks great. This is your home, and naturally you have a lot of pride in it!

Unfortunately, sometimes the wear and tear on your home becomes unnoticeable when it is something you see everyday. While you may not think about the one light switch that doesn’t work or the chipping paint in the guest bedroom, now is the time to take a step back and look at your home with fresh eyes.

When you decide to sell your home, the first thing you should do is make any repairs you can to save yourself money in the long run. Here are a few repairs to cross off so you can get the best deal for your home!
1. Paint Your Walls
Re-painting the rooms that need a fresh face is the cheapest way to update the appearance of your home. Consider using light, neutral colors to appeal to a broader group of buyers.

If the room is too dark or has chipped or dirty paint, make it look brand new with a coat of paint ...

Does your lawn measure up to the rest??

As you prepare your home for sale, PLEASE don't forget the lawn and that VERY FIRST impression that it makes on a potential buyer! It make a big impact!

While the winter is now just a memory, the damage done to your lawn over those winter months may not be. If you’re in an area where temperatures drop severely and winter storms are constant, your lawn has probably suffered.

Now that spring is in full swing and summer will be here before we know it, it is time to give your lawn a little TLC. Here are the steps to turn your lawn from an eyesore into a sight to see!
This is an important first step to take following the winter months! This will work to remove any dead grass or other winter debris. Make sure you invest in a durable rake to easily remove larger pieces like sticks and matted leaves.  Raking will expose any patches that need attention and helps to begin preparing the soil for any reseeding that may need done.

You are selling your Kitchen!

If there is one room in the home you need to think about as you begin to sell it is the Kitchen.  Period.  This room is a BIG deal!

Think....You are selling your kitchen!  Especially in this millennial age of home buyers.  Millennials make up over 66% of first time home buyers currently, and over 35% of buyers overall, and the Kitchen is a BIG deal for them!

We are all thankful for the many drawers and cabinets in kitchens today, but they make it easy for us to hide our clutter instead of getting rid of it. If you have reached the point where you can no longer open a door in your kitchen without having something fall out, it is time to de-clutter your kitchen. No judgement here, but IT. IS. TIME.

Follow these steps and you can begin a clutter-free life, starting with your kitchen!

The utensil drawer - Sort through your utensil drawer. Toss out any broken or unused utensils.

Open your pantry and get rid of anything that is ex ...

Will your carpets tell potential buyer's a smelly story?

How many carpeted rooms in your home appear clean at a glance?

Even if you think they all look clean, those carpets may not be very sanitary. Spring is here which means if you have snow, it has likely started to melt - exposing dirt and pollen that can now be easily tracked into your house.  Carpets trap dust and odors and can attract mold when they absorb moisture.

So often, we forget what our carpet could be hiding because it just doesn't look dirty. You want to make your carpet last as long as possible, and the only way to ensure that is by keeping your carpets cleaned and sanitized. Here are some steps to take to keep that carpet in the best shape possible, and as clean as ever.
1. Vacuum Weekly
Make a habit of vacuuming once a week, even twice a week in high traffic areas. While it is easy to rush through vacuuming, try taking it slowly to ensure your vacuum is pulling up as much dirt and dust as possible.

Pick a couple of days each wee ...

A Day in the life of a Realtor....

What's a day like when you are a Realtor?
What should you expect from your Realtor?  You should know...and you should ask questions and do your research to determine if you are hiring a good one.
I get asked all the time about this career and what it is like, and I LOVE this career, but it's not what HGTV makes it look like, believe me.

This career is hard, and it is not for everyone. It's a lot of long days, I work twelve hour days sometimes especially in the busy season fulfilling my client's needs and ensuring I am still working on my branding and business behind the scenes.

As a realtor it is important to know this....(and they don't teach you this in the class...) Your brand is YOU.  Clients will hire you to do the job because of who YOU are.  So, who will you be?  What do you want to represent?  What sets YOU apart from the rest?

Since becoming a Realtor, I have realized a few things:

- The price of entry is LOW.  Almost anyone c ...
