"V" is For Value: The Evaluation

Being able to take constructive feedback is an important attribute to develop in our professional careers.  This can be difficult for me since I am so sensitive and because I internalize so much, not because I think I am better than everyone else, but because I don’t want to disappoint people.  One thing I have learned about stepping back from this internalization is to realize that not everything is about me! What a relief, right?!? What if we all took this simple concept and applied it every time we were insulted by someone’s negative feedback, or criticism.  


What others think of us is none of our business.  This is another analogy I really like. It becomes easier to separate the facts from the stories we tell ourselves.  But, how do we take true stalk of ourselves and our work? How do we evaluate ourselves honestly without coming up with excuses, or stories?

Pre-Qualification Vs. Pre-Approval

There are plenty of real estate terms used in transactions. Needless-to-say it can be confusing for both buyers and sellers trying to navigate the process. The home loan process might feel overwhelming and difficult to understand, but it is important for the home buyer to be as prepared as possible when they are ready to buy their first home. Both buyers and sellers find terms like “Pre-qualification” and “pre-approval” used interchangeably, it’s no wonder they find themselves wondering how to proceed.  


If you are a home seller it will be important for you and your real estate agent to discuss the difference between these two letters and why it’s important.  In this hot sellers market here in Spokane you will most likely be receiving several offers on your home. You will want to make sure you are choosing one where the buyer is PRE-APPROVED.

Being able to provide quality information these days is like mining for gold in my opinion.  You never know if what you are reading about is true, or not. Having a database of resources that I can access quickly and send off to my client(s) is a great way for me to build trust.  Not only do I have several brochures in PDF format from different home warranty companies, inspectors, electricians, loan officers, builders, etc, I also have my own information that I have created  including home buyers guides, home sellers guides,and market updates. All of these materials are designed specifically to include my brand, my image, and are relevant to what I am trying to accomplish with each individual client.

"V" is For Value: Staying Connected After the Transaction

I love what I do.  I love the people that I meet along the way.  I love seeing their families grow on social media, and through snail mail.  My life is so much fuller now that I have learned how to open up (just a little bit) to people.  I never used to be open with others that I didn’t know well. I rarely gave people a chance. As a result I have few friends (which isn’t a bad thing), and spend a lot of my free time by myself.  I make these choices daily, and to some extent I am still that same person deep down who likes her “alone time.” However, there is definately something to be said for opening up and showing someone a little kindness.  It wasn’t that I didn’t want to show affection, or love for others. I just felt awkward about it (and still do) and so I taught myself how to distance myself from those uncomfortable moments.

Client Satisfaction is a slippery slope.  There is an ongoing debate regarding whether, or not “The customer is always right.”  Whether, or not that statement is true, I don’t think it can be argued that having a satisfied customer will keep them coming back, and will ultimately lead us as agents to more referral business.  



In this article I would like to discuss an uncomfortable aspect of my job that is essential to my growth.  Customer feedback, reviews and surveys are great tools to use in order to get honest feedback about a real estate agents performance.  It can be tough asking for honest feedback, but let me tell you~we are usually harder on ourselves than a client will ever be when they are writing a review.  


I am a people-pleaser through-and-through.  This fact used to embarrass me until I started accepting myself as a human being.  There is nothing wrong with wanting the people around us to be happy. ...
