Long-distance house hunting

Regular house-hunting isn't always easy, but adding distance into the mix can present challenges you don't have when looking over a few neighborhoods for a new home. While it may not be a walk in the park to buy a home from far away, it is possible. If you find a great agent and follow these steps, you can take away some of the stress that comes with moving long-distance.
1. Start Your Research
Knowing what is in your neighborhood is something we tend to take for granted. You know where the best sushi place is and exactly what grocery store is closest to your home for those last-minute runs. When moving to a new neighborhood, especially in a new state, it is key to decide what is important to you when it comes to proximity. Does your new house need to be near a park for your kids? Do you need to be 5 minutes from the closest coffee shop? You'll also want to look into crime rates and school ratings if you have children. Researching your potential neighborhoods will help you feel bette ...

I don’t know about you but I think house hunting is so much fun! Everyone has a list of needs and wants when it comes to their dream home. But what happens when you walk into a home and it isn’t really speaking to you? Maybe the walls are covered in wallpaper and the clutter never ends. It can be SO hard to look past the visual noise that but it is so important to try when you are house hunting because, at the end of the day, the clutter isn’t what you are buying. The walls and permanent features of the home are what you are spending your money on. You just need to learn how to picture yourself in that space and determine what you would be able to do with it.

Size, shape, and functionality are all so important when looking at a home. When you walk in, look around to see what other rooms you can see. Are they on the first floor? Second floor? Try to get a feel for the walls that are up and how you would place your furniture in the space. How big are the rooms ...

Buying a home is not cheap; however, there are costly expenses associated with selling a home as well! But being informed and educated will ensure that you aren’t surprised about any of the fees required when you are in the home selling or buying process. Contrary to what some people may say, it is important use a real estate agent who will help shed light on closing costs and help you know what to expect at all times.

Rules To Follow When Getting A Loan To Buy A Home

Buying a home isn’t necessarily a walk in the park. There are a lot of steps involved! One of the bigger, more confusing steps, is the loan process. You are getting a bank, or some sort of mortgage lender to entrust you with hundreds of thousands of dollars. Yeah, that is a big deal! The bank will have you jump through a couple of hoops to be sure they can trust you with their money. It doesn’t need to be a big scary process, but there are a few rules you can follow to ensure you keep the process as seamless as possible. Once you start the loan process, it is important that you follow these rules so you don’t put yourself at risk for losing the loan.
1. Don't change jobs, quit your job or change your job status.
The bank wants to know you have a steady job. They need to know that you have a secure and steady source of income so you can pay your mortgage. Now isn’t the best time to be job searching. Hold tight, and be patient!
2. Don't ope ...

Why 2019 Is The Perfect Year To Buy Or Sell A Home

You’ve been watching the market and you are tempted to list your home because you have seen home sell very fast and, often times, over asking price! If you are in a spot to buy a home, then you might be hearing of these record low-interest rates, massive amounts of home options and inventory, and great loan options for first time home buyers. While you can’t have both a buyer and seller's market, there are some reasons why both selling and buying in 2019 may be recommended.
Let’s focus on why 2019 may be the right time to make the decision to buy a home.  In recent years the market had more buyers than inventory listed for sale. This created a “Seller’s Market” and often homes would sell for thousands over asking price as buyers essentially were in a “bidding war” to get the home. This is changing as more homes are being listed. However, the increase in available homes seems to be in the mid to higher-end market and the ...
