Fall Housing Market Update!

Fall is well under way and the market is really starting to reflect that!  We had a summer that was bustling with activity, but it has begun to slow down.  For the past several weeks we have seen a decline in the number of houses coming on the market and going under contract.  This week alone, new listing are down almost 25%!   Prices are still up though, 11.5% over this same time last year.

Long-distance house hunting

Regular house-hunting isn't always easy, but adding distance into the mix can present challenges you don't have when looking over a few neighborhoods for a new home. While it may not be a walk in the park to buy a home from far away, it is possible. If you find a great agent and follow these steps, you can take away some of the stress that comes with moving long-distance.
1. Start Your Research
Knowing what is in your neighborhood is something we tend to take for granted. You know where the best sushi place is and exactly what grocery store is closest to your home for those last-minute runs. When moving to a new neighborhood, especially in a new state, it is key to decide what is important to you when it comes to proximity. Does your new house need to be near a park for your kids? Do you need to be 5 minutes from the closest coffee shop? You'll also want to look into crime rates and school ratings if you have children. Researching your potential neighborhoods will help you feel bette ...

How To Picture Yourself In Your New Home

I don’t know about you but I think house hunting is so much fun! Everyone has a list of needs and wants when it comes to their dream home. But what happens when you walk into a home and it isn’t really speaking to you? Maybe the walls are covered in wallpaper and the clutter never ends. It can be SO hard to look past the visual noise that but it is so important to try when you are house hunting because, at the end of the day, the clutter isn’t what you are buying. The walls and permanent features of the home are what you are spending your money on. You just need to learn how to picture yourself in that space and determine what you would be able to do with it.

Size, shape, and functionality are all so important when looking at a home. When you walk in, look around to see what other rooms you can see. Are they on the first floor? Second floor? Try to get a feel for the walls that are up and how you would place your furniture in the space. How big are the rooms ...
